Importance of the Electrolysis Consultation

We receive many questions as to why we require a consultation prior to any Electrolysis services provided here at SMOOTH. Often times, clients do a lot of research on their own regarding Electrolysis, or have previously had Electrolysis services elsewhere, and are sure they want to get started. While we do appreciate new clients coming in with some idea of what Electrolysis is, we cannot rely on your at-home research or what another facility has discussed with you to be enough to ensure that you are fully informed. Our consultations are anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes in duration, and go over a lot of very useful information. We also use this opportunity to get to know each other and make sure that we are a good fit for the journey ahead.

At the consultation, we begin by going over your full health history once you’ve filled out our detailed new client intake forms. This allows us to first make sure that Electrolysis is a safe hair removal option for you. We also review your past medical history and things like medications and supplements, as these may help or hinder treatment. We will go over your previous hair removal methods in the area(s) of unwanted hair, as this also helps us decide which of the 3 modalities of Electrolysis is going to be the best fit, to get you results safely and quickly.

Next, we will discuss the 3 types of Electrolysis that we offer, as mentioned above, and explain how Electrolysis destroys the hair follicle, and what makes this the only permanent hair removal method available. We will also discuss before and after care, as these steps taken at home can really help you to get the most out of treatment, as well as keep you and your skin comfortable and healthy throughout your visits with us. All providers here at SMOOTH are Licensed Estheticians, and truly care about putting skin health first, along with providing safe permanent hair removal.

After, we will assess your unwanted hair, looking at hair texture, hair quantity and skin integrity. This allows us to put together your custom treatment plan. This includes how often we want to see you, as well as advise on how long each visit should be with us to try our best to get full clearance of the unwanted hair at each visit.
